"The Dream Guardian: The First Nightmare"

by Thomas W. Pohl

First came the Dream. Then came the Nightmare.

Before the legends were born, before the Knightmare Legion marched across Dreamland, and long before the mantle passed to the Guardians who would follow, there was Aleron, the Protector.

Beyond Dreamland lies the Ethereal Realm, where the Lord of Dreams reigns from his throne in the Dream Kingdom. Among his most trusted servants are Lumira, the Revelator, keeper of sacred revelation, and Aleron, the Protector, guardian of the throne and faithful defender of the Dream Kingdom.

But when Lumira discovers the Lord of Dreams' plans for his newest creation, a seed of rebellion takes root.

What begins as pride soon becomes defiance—and ultimately unleashes a darkness that crosses from the Ethereal Realm into Dreamland itself. As corruption spreads and forbidden powers enter the newly created paradise, a terrifying new threat arises: the Vaelorn, Children of the Nightmare.

For the first time, Dreamland faces an enemy its inhabitants cannot defeat.

To save the Dream, Aleron must leave the place he was created to protect and answer a greater calling—one that will establish a mantle destined to endure throughout the ages.

He must become...THE FIRST DREAM GUARDIAN.

The Dream Guardian: The First Nightmare is the beginning of the epic saga—the story of rebellion, corruption, sacrifice, and the events that transformed a perfect Dream into its First Nightmare.
